Charlie
Fitzsimmons knows the value of hard work and determination. There were 1200
fighters in the Ringside World Championships in
Charlie’s
first fight was with Alberto Gomez. Mr Gomez had previously fought in the
Olympic trials and he had a record of 117-34. Mr Fitzsimmons won a unanimous 3
rd decision. The next night Charlie fought William Moss, a National Title
contender, and ended up dropping a close 3 rd decisions to him. After this
match, thinking he was done, The
Bradford, P.A. boxer was approached by a team from the Charlie almost wasn't allowed to compete because his nose wasn't in exactly in good position as it was bleeding throughout the week, but got into the ring with Adriel Lopez and had one of his best matches ever. After giving him the 2nd standing 8 count, Charlie’s corner was shouting to stay on him and knowing that the title was on the line he went right after him, throwing a barrage of punches until the ref stopped it with about a minute left. He won 2 out of his 3 fights but won the most important one, the amateur Heavyweight Championship. Charlie
stated “As a Christian, I have to thank God first. I prayed with my Pastor
before the bouts and He
protected me. It was awesome to bring a title back to the Knockout Factory.
This is a lifelong dream for me. Coming from a small town, I just never
expected this! I want to use this experience to show my kids that anything is
possible.” KnockoutFactory coaches Mike Tome and Jimmy Wilder had plenty of
praise for Mr. Fitzsimmons. Club President Tome said “Charlie is a testament
to hard work and discipline. You will never see him blaming others, making
