PROFESSIONAL MMA FIGHTERS Pre-Fight Medical Requirements

1. A comprehensive physical examination, conducted by the fighter’s private medical doctor.  This examination should be performed within one (1) year of the contest.  The competitor should be medically cleared to fight and should be indicated on doctor’s letterhead “fit to compete”.

 2.   An Ophthalmologic (eye) examination including a dilated retinal exam within twelve (12) months of the contest.  The competitor must have indicated on doctor’s letterhead “fit to compete” this examination must be performed by an Ophthalmologist.

 3.   Must have an MRI within Three (3) years of the scheduled contest.

 4.    Must have an EKG (heart test) within One (1) year of the scheduled contest. (EKG must be interpreted by a Cardiologist – Computer is not acceptable)

 5.   BLOOD WORK

 HIV – Negative HIV serology (AIDS Blood Test) within twelve (12) months of scheduled contest.

 Hep “B” – A Negative Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBV sAg) – within twelve (12) months of the scheduled contest. (note: negative Hep B sAb,cAb,eAg are not acceptable.  Exceptions:  If a fighter has undergone a vaccination series for Hepatitis B, they may present proof of immunity.  This is via a blood test called HBV sAB.  If this test is positive, the fighter is considered immune to the virus and does not need to be tested for the HBV sAg.

 Hep “C” – Negative Hepatitis C serology (Blood Test) within twelve (12) months of the scheduled contest.

 6.   Any additional test and/or examinations may be required or amended at the discretion of the Commissioner or Chief Ringside Physician

 

AC 7.11:  Female Unarmed Combatants.

1.           A female unarmed combatant must be qualified to perform as an unarmed combatant before she enters a contest or exhibition.

2.           A female unarmed combatant shall not engage in a contest or exhibition with a male unarmed combatant.

3.           In addition to meeting such requirements of this chapter as are applicable to unarmed combatants generally, a female unarmed combatant shall:

a)    Use a mouthpiece specially designed for her mouth;

b)    Wear a breast protector as a binder (optional);

c)    Have her hair secured in a manner that does not interfere with the vision or safety of either unarmed combatant;

d)    Not use cosmetics during a competition or exhibition

4.           A female unarmed combatant must, in addition to signing the bout agreement, provide a negative pregnancy test within fourteen (14) days prior to a bout.

5.           The promoters of a contest or exhibition between female unarmed combatants shall provide them with adequate separate dressing rooms.
